About Me
· Travel: Melbourne, Australia; Bath and London, England; Toronto and Vancouver, New York City; Washington, California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Indiana, Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia
· Favorite Designer: Vico Magistretti
· Books: Biographies – Edward R. Murrow, Mother Theresa, Winston Churchill; Clan of the Cave Bear (the whole series), The DiVinci Code, Master and Commander (the series), spy novels, legal novels, Band of Brothers, Blackhawk Down and other non-fiction (soldier’s personal accounts), Cradle to Cradle, Experiencing Architecture, Ishmael, various books about drawing and art history; Periodicals: “Woodturning”, “Woodworking for Women”, “Wood”, “American Bungalow”, “Interiors”
· Television: I watch old movies on AMC or TMC, history channel, HGTV, Everybody Loves Raymond
· Favorite Movies: “Gorillas in the Mist”, “The Rabbit-Proof Fence”, “Whale Rider”, “Lawrence of Arabia”, “Casablanca”, “Citizen Kane”
· Music: 50’s, 60’s and 70’s (Eagles), rock-n-roll, but really most genres
· Hobbies: reading, woodworking, painting, scrapbooking, creating DVD photo collages, any craft that strikes my fancy
· Major: Interior Architecture. Reasons: I am a nostalgic person. My maternal grandparents were a large influence from early childhood onward. With the exception of some traveling during World War II, they lived most of their lives in the small town where they grew up, so there was a strong sense of family history and roots. Both my parents are from that same small town. Although my grandparents and most of my parents’ extended family are no longer living, I feel their presence when I visit the town. This is why I am interested in architectural restoration. I believe old buildings, whether they are homes, factories, or office buildings, have stories to tell and should be preserved. I want to specialize in architectural preservation. I am also very interested in furniture design. I like working with my hands.
